Hamburg Edition 1911
A Timepiece with Depth – Inspired by the Historic Old Elbe Tunnel
The Hamburg Edition 1911 pays tribute to one of Hamburg’s most iconic engineering achievements: the Old Elbe Tunnel, inaugurated in 1911. For over a century, this tunnel has connected the banks of the Elbe River – a lasting symbol of technical innovation, progress, and Hamburg’s identity as a proud port and trading city. This timepiece captures the atmosphere and history of this architectural marvel in every design detail.
Design Rooted in History
The dark blue satin-finished dial evokes the depths of the Elbe, while a fine light blue chapter ring adds structure and dimension – like the glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Gold-toned hour and minute hands contrast with the signal orange seconds hand, a nod to the bold industrial color schemes of the early 20th century. For perfect legibility in low light, orange Luminova dots and luminous hands ensure visibility even in darkness.
The double-domed sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides, protects the dial from scratches and glare. At 42 mm, the stainless-steel case houses a reliable Miyota quartz movement – robust, low-maintenance, and ready for everyday wear. Water-resistant to 5 ATM, it’s splash-proof but not suitable for swimming.
Caseback Engraving – A Scene Full of History
The four-screw caseback features a detailed engraving depicting workers walking through the newly opened Elbe Tunnel in the early 1900s – a quiet tribute to the men who brought this engineering feat to life.
